Central Florida Chapter Notes
Indiana has never beaten Penn State. I can't say that Penn State has won all of its games against Indiana because the damn NCAA took away several of those wins. They call it vacation. I call it a crime. Anyhow, the Nittany Lions continued their dominance over the Hoosiers on a bittersweet day that saw both a potential career ending injury to Mike Mauti and a record-setting performance by Matt McGloin.
This week, the Wisconsin Badgers (7-4, 4-3 Big Ten) come to Beaver Stadium. This is the final game of the season, and it is, of course, Senior Day for a fine bunch of seniors who stuck with this team through thick and thin. Let's all get behind them and cheer them on to a win! Watch the game with us at Miller's Ale House at 3:30 PM on Saturday, November 24.
Joint Trustees' $50K Challenge
Our Chapter is in discussions with the Tri-County Florida Chapter (a/k/a our friends from The Villages) to make a commitment to raise $50,000 for a Trustee Matching Endowment. Read more about it here.
Chapter T-Shirts Are Still Here!
You know that lots of work went into producing these shirts, which will be a fine fashion statement at any event within the chapter and without, with the possible exception of that black tie fund raiser you're committed to. More details are available on the T-shirt Page and shirts can be purchased at the Chapter Store.
We once again thank the Family Clothesline (PennStateClothes.com), a leading supplier of Penn State branded merchandise, for working with us on this signature item. (For more info, see the T-Shirt Page.)
Alas, our inventory has been depleted down to a single size, XL, and we don't know when we might be ordering new shirts. So please grab one before we run out!
Football Viewing Parties
We are headed back to Miller’s Orlando Ale House in Winter Park for yet another great season of viewing parties.
The Central Florida Chapter is proud to announce this year’s scholarship winner is sophomore Jocelin Linares from Orlando. Jocelin, who carries a current GPA of 3.4 is double majoring in Psychology and Labor & Employment Relations. In her spare time, Jocelin enjoys working with the Dominican Student Association and the Student Minority Advisory and Recruitment Team. She also belongs to the Society of Labor and Employment Relations and participated in this year’s THON, which raised over $10 million dollars for pediatric cancer research.
Please join me in congratulating Jocelin and all of our local students attending Penn State this coming fall!
For further information about the Chapter's scholarship program, please go to the Scholarship Program page.
