It was on, then off, then on again at the list minute, as Hurricane Frances delayed her arrival just long enough to let us watch the game, relatively safe and secure. These brave souls showed up at Cheers of Longwood to enjoy the beer and the Lions' victory over Akron.

On August 12th, Penn State Alumi Association's Central Florida Chapter hosted its annual Big 10 kick-off event in conjunction with other Big Ten alumni associations in the area. More than 80 Nittany Lions, Buckeyes, Wolverines, Spartans, Hoosiers and Illini took a break from the heat, enjoying the Big Ten company, the food, the good cheer, the football predictions, and the stiff competition on the bowling lanes.

After opting for indoor bowling in the heat of summer for last year's Big Ten Kickoff event, we decided that we would not shy away from the Central Florida summer this year. This year's event returned our old favorite, an outdoor picnic, on one of the hottest days of the year.
